For
3 years, I had been trying to introduce the tabby gene into my bi-color
program... but with no success. Then finally, the first tabby and white
Persian babies were born at Mockingbird in January of 2000!
From the beginning, there was a brown tabby and white van boy who stood
out. He was bigger than his littermates and had a massive head, very round
from whichever way I looked at it, and huge eye slits. Then when he opened
those eyes - wow! I searched for an appropriate name and I chose Mockingbird
My Bi-Line - since I hoped he would be the beginning of the Mockingbird
tabbies - my bi-colors with lines!!
Time
passed and baby "Liner" grew like a weed and was fast approaching 4 months
of age. And he was gorgeous! Normally I would have been looking forward
to showing him. However, I was very busy developing the new interactive
website for Persian and Exotic fanciers, www.PandEcats.com,
and with my spring litters due I had accepted the fact that Liner would
not have a kitten career.
Then
my good friends Diana and Tonya Heinzen of TNT Purrfect Persians in Arizona
suggested I send Liner to them. They were going to a local show with some
of their wonderful kitties, and "Liner" could go along for the ride. So
off to Arizona he went.
At
barely 4 months old Liner made his kitten debut at the Arizona Cat Show.
And three times he was chosen Best Kitten!! He then embarked on a whirlwind
kitten campaign that culminated at the Los Colores show in California
when he made all the finals including 2 Best Kittens - over an entry of
123 kittens including national campaigners from all over the country!
Liner
entered the adult class several weeks later and was awarded Best as an
Open, then Best as a Champion and became a One Show Grand!
Shown
only 6 times as a grand, Liner was then retired.
None of Liner's success would have be possible
without my wonderful friends Diana and Tonya Heinzen. As I treasure Liner,
so do I treasure your friendship. Thank you!!!
